To learn English, the main thing to learn is the Basics of English. This is a very important thing, it will be complicated if the basics are not mastered, conversely if the basics are well understood then it will be easy to move on to the next lessons.

There are 5 things that must be mastered in learning English:

1. Tenses

Tenses are the most important and fundamental elements for learning English. Tenses are forms of verbs in English that are useful to indicate the time conditions for an event. The time shown is past, present and future.

Because understanding tenses is the most basic thing in learning English, tenses are on the first page or chapter in an English learning book. If you have mastered and understood all the tenses available, you can say that you have mastered English as much as 60%.

The thing that needs to be stressed again is that Tenses are a combination of two basic components that can not be separated, namely time and events.

Time:
· Present.
· Past .
· Future.
· Past Future.

Event:
· Simple / Simple activities.
· Continuous / ongoing activities.
· Perfect / Activity that has ended.
· Perfect Continuous / ongoing activities with a duration of time.

2. Listening

After tenses, the next basics for learning English is listening. Listening is one of the skills or abilities of English whose application is to listen to the vocabulary in English sentences.

3. Reading

4. Writing

Writing in English will make you understand the ability to speak English, whether it’s from grammar or vocabulary. Thus it can improve the weaknesses by practicing, so that later the weaknesses are covered up and none at all.

Writing is one of the three application skills described previously. After understanding tenses in English, listening to English sentences and reading English sentences, the next is to put them into practice.

The stages to learn how to write English well are as follows:

· Reread then understand
· Answer written questions without looking at the reading
· Retell the story from your own perspective.

5. Speaking

After the four fundamentals of learning English above have been mastered well, then the last is speaking.
