Adverb of Definite Frequency

Describe the exact frequency of something happening or an action taking place

Examples :

I visit the supermarket twice a week
I go to work three time a week
Fatimah visits her friend every Friday
every morning I brush my teeth

Adverb of Indefinite Frequency

Don’t describe the exact frequency of something happening or an action taking place

Examples :

I frequently visit the supermarket
I go to work often
Sometimes I play football afterschool

Rules for position of indefinite frequency adverb

1. Adverb is placed before the main verb
   (subject + adverb + main verb)
   Example : I always visit my friend
2. Adverb is placed after the verb to be
   (subject + to be + adverb)
   Example : I am never late for school
3. Adverb is placed between the auxiliary verb and the main verb
   (subject + auxiliary + adverb + main verb)
   examples : I have sometimes though of becoming a lawyer
4. Adverb is placed before used to ang have to
   Example : I never used to be able to swim
